Two fast!

The title is a play on words. You see, both my kids are growing up too fast. I thought it was cute to say "two fast" cause I have two kids. So, on that note.............

On Friday after her bath Hailey told me she didn't want to wear a diaper, so I put big girl underwear on her. She had an accident and so I just put a diaper back on her. Saturday we tried again. She went on the potty and I let her open a present. She then had an accident. After her nap we tried again. She continued to go on the potty. She was so excited to open a present. Every time that she would go on the potty she would open a present. So she would go on the potty then open a present and immediately go back to the potty and squeeze whatever she could out so she could open another. Well, she went about 8 times that night, I know because that's how many presents she opened. I was worried I was going to run out of presents. So on Sunday she did a good job of going again, but since we were going to church and we didn't want her to have an accident we just put a pull up on her. So that night when we were at Dan's parent's for dinner, Dan's brilliant sister suggested having her blow out a candle after every time. Well, thanks to this advice Hailey has forgotten about the present thing. She loves to blow out a candle, and if she goes poop in the potty she gets to blow out two! We have gone accident free since Monday! We even went to the library one day and Momo's another with her wearing big girl underwear. She's only pooped in the potty once. I don't think she likes the feeling of pooping in the potty. I don't know how much longer she can keep it in. I don't want to have a messy accident. I am so proud of her going in the potty though. I'm a little sad at the same time cause she is growing up so fast.

Monday night Carly was playing on the floor and it looked like she tried to sit up all by her self, it was pretty cute. Well yesterday I was spending some time with Carly on the floor, when all of a sudden from laying on her stomach she pushed her self up to a sitting position! I couldn't believe it. Isn't she to young for that? Maybe it was just a freak thing and she won't do it again for a long time. But she totally sat up. Like I said before, she's growing so fast.

I love my girls so much.

To be redundant, they are growing TWO fast!

Potty training.............

I have tried and tried to get Hailey to go potty in the potty. It's so frustrating. I've bought little incentive presents, I've bought her cute underwear, I've got potty charts, I've read her books about going potty, rented movies too. She screams her head off if I even mention going and sitting on the potty. I really thought she would love the present thing cause she loves to unwrap presents, but she doesn't understand that she has to go pee or poop on the potty in order to open one. She freaks out if I don't put either a diaper or underwear on her. My sister-in-law said that her daughter was the exact same and that finally a week before her daughter turned 3 she said that she didn't want to wear diapers anymore. I don't want to wait that long, but I also don't want to traumatize Hailey, or for her to hate her mother. Help! Any suggestions?

So close!

Carly is getting so close to crawling. It's so fun to watch her develop new skills.

She spends most of her time on her tummy.

She wants to crawl so bad.

Can you tell her whole body is off the floor? She gets frustrated sometimes and does push ups! It's so cute.

Did you notice the two ponytails?

Fun time

My sister and her family came into town last week. They all got sick. Remember I told you that Carly got really sick? Well two days later, that was Sunday, Hailey got really sick and was throwing up. So my sister came to Salt Lake on Monday, well her little girl got the same thing on Wednesday, and then her little boy the next day. So that was lots of fun, it's a good thing it was just a quick 12 hour thing. Isn't it great how kids can spread germs so quickly? (<--that's me being sarcastic, for those of you that couldn't tell.)

Despite all of the sick kids we had a really fun time. We went to Momo's house (we call my grandma Momo) and our older kids got in the little pool that she bought for them, then they had a tea party. Another day we took the older kids to the Discovery Gateway at the Gateway Mall, while grandma and grandpa (our parents) babysat the little girls. Then the kids ran through the water fountain afterwards. It was a very busy day.

This is my niece Emily

She loves to play peek-a-boo, but she can't find her eyes yet, she's so close! Isn't that cute?

We hadn't planned on them getting wet, so they got wet in their diapers. That's my sisters boy, and Hailey's best friend, Ryan.

Cup of tea (or O.J. in this case)!

This was at the Discovery Gateway, and so are the next few pictures. This place was so much fun.

Hailey rowing a boat.

They had a really cute small kitchen that Hailey loved.

Buyin' some fruit and veggies!

Ryan climbing on the wall. Hold on tight Darrel.

She could see what she looked like on T.V.

A pretty pooped Hailey after playing at the Discovery Gateway and in the water fountain. She fell asleep like this!

Poor little Peanut :(

Carly has been sick the last couple of days. She threw up 4 times yesterday. It's so frustrating when the Dr. says to "just watch her" and there's not much else you can do. So Dan and my dad gave her a blessing. She was able to hold down her last "meal" (breast milk) last night, and everything she has had today. She has had a fever all day though, poor little thing. I hate when my kids are sick. She is still so sweet even though she's not 100%.

She is almost crawling. She loves to get on her knees and then lunge forward. It's pretty cute to watch. Most of the time she ends up scooting backwards! Either way she can always get where she wants to be.

She's also decided that she likes to sleep on her stomach lately!

Happy after a bath

Sleeping so soundly

Snuggle

Carly was in her little exersaucer thing while I was doing something on the computer, so my back was towards her, but she could still see me. Anyway, I could hear Hailey talking to Carly about something. So I turned around and this is what I saw:

Hailey had stuck all her stuffed animals, which she has been very obsessed about lately and that she HAS to sleep with every night, all around Carly on the exersaucer. She then was covering the animals with blankets saying that she was snuggling them all with Carly. Pretty cute! I was kind of amazed that she even let Carly anywhere near her animals.

She likes her, she really really likes her.....I think

Hailey asked to hold Carly and this was the first and cutest picture we took

So we kept taking pictures

And then Hailey did this!

Hailey doesn't realize that she has to be soft with Carly. I do think Hailey accepts that she's part of the family now. She loves to get a reaction from Carly, whether it's a laugh or cry I don't think she cares.

Just hangin' out

My very cute sister-in-law Naima loves to take pictures. She came over the other night and here are some of my favorites of the girls.

She was sitting on uncle John's shoulders reaching for leaves

I'm so cool sittin' all by myself

I love this picture because Hailey reached out and put her arm around Carly all on her own. I think it's very sweet.

Testimony

Seeing that yesterday was Fast Sunday and I don't like getting up in front of people, I thought that I would share a little of my testimony about prayers being answered on the blog.

When Carly was about 3 months old, one day she started crying and I tried everything to get her to stop. I said a little prayer to help me know what to do to comfort her and the thought "sing You Are My Sunshine" came into my head. Well, Hailey was in the room and I thought I can't sing that to Carly because of the line that says "my ONLY sunshine" cause Hailey is my sunshine too. But the thought came stronger to sing You Are My Sunshine, so I started singing. Almost immediately Carly stopped crying. When it was over Hailey said "sing it again mom" and so I kept singing it and I started crying because I realized that my prayer was answered. I was rubbing Carly's head and Hailey came over and started rubbing her head too. Wow! The spirit was so strong. Afterwards I realized that Hailey probably doesn't understand what the word ONLY means. I am so grateful that The Lord does hear and answer prayers.
